In a column for the Washington Times, failed Republican U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell draws an unflattering comparison between President Barack Obama‘s plan to attack ISIS and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie‘s fitness progress.
Obama said during a speech Wednesday that his plan of action for the U.S.’s fight against ISIS is to lead airstrikes against the Islamic terrorist network and arm foreigners who are also willing to fight. He said the plan is similar to what the U.S. has done in Yemen and Somalia.
O’Donnell digested the speech as such:
More airstrikes, that’s it? Our strategy in Syria will be like our strategy in Yemen and Somalia. Am I missing something? We captured a terrorist leader or two in those areas, but by no means are we victorious. Great. To say our strategy in Syria will be like Yemen and Somalia is like saying my weight loss plan will be like Chris Christie’s. (No offense, governor.)
Back in May of 2013, Christie underwent a lap band surgery to bring his estimated 350-pound body down to a healthier size. Progress has been slow but steady, it seems.
O’Donnell concluded her column calling Obama’s plan “mealy mouthed” and suggested he consider using ground troops in the fight.
